S. perspicillata abundances were higher in north-facing valley bottoms with lower canopy height and lower tree cover density, highlighting the importance of moist, topographically buffered habitats and the species’ spring movements toward streams for reproduction. In contrast, S. strinatii responded strongly to forest maturity and microhabitat complexity. Leer más.

Simultaneous polyandry typically occurs where the sperm from several males reaches a female’s eggs at the same time. This is most likely in explosively breeding species such as the European Common Frog (Rana temporaria) or Common Toad (Bufo bufo) where several males may be present around one female. Leer más.
