Comparative Transcriptomic Analyses Identify Candidate Genes for Convergent Reproductive Shifts in a Bimodal Viviparous Amphibian

This study represents an important first step towards understanding the genomic basis of the evolution of pueriparity in a remarkable bimodal reproductive system, and provides transcriptomic resources and candidate genes for future research into the genomic architecture underlying this poorly understood adaptive trait. Influence of Habitat Use on Prey Capture Behaviorand Kinematics in the Pyrenean Brook Newt(Calotriton asper)

Our results showthat animals change capture style and exploration behavior in function of light conditions suggesting an intrinsic plasticity inthe species allowing it to feed in both environments. However, the kinematics of capture suggest population‐specific behaviorsallowing cave‐dwellers to be more efficient in capturing prey under total darkness. Leer más.
