Our results unravel a movement system characterised by many highly sedentary individuals and few relatively mobile ones (many stayers, few movers). Integrating multiple techniques, we provided a multi-scale framework to characterise space use in low-mobility species that yielded important insights for connectivity and conservation in forest-dwelling amphibians. Male newts reached sexual maturity 1 year earlier than females but had similar lifespans. Younger individuals had deeper tails, suggesting that individual fitness could be age-dependent. Males tended to have a weaker inflammatory response, reflecting an energy trade-off from the immune system toward the complex courtship display during reproduction.  Leer más.
