Telmatobius culeus, is the largest aquatic frog found in Lake Titicaca in Peru and Bolivia. Individuals have been known to weigh almost a kilogram, and are unmistakable with their folds of skin. Those excessive skin folds have lent the species their nickname, Titicaca Scrotum Frog. Unfortunately it is also considered to be an aphrodisiac when mixed with honey, the roots of a local plant, and several other products, and consumed as a «thick shake». Leer más.

The «SEH Grant in Herpetology» will be made available in 2014 again to support a project orientated to the conservation of the amphibians and reptiles of Europe and the Mediterranean basin, focused on either a species or habitat, with a grant of up to EUR 2000. The SEH Conservation Committee and the SEH Council will decide on the project applications, and priority will be given to those addressing species conservation priorities identified by the Committee and the Council.
