Se desconoce si hay una mayor contaminación de los huevos en las puestas trasladadas a los criaderos. Se realizaron dos experimentos de para evaluar los efectos de los hongos y bacterias en el desarrollo embrionario de los huevos de la tortuga laúd. Los huevos de tortugas marinas expuestos a sustratos utilizados anteriormente o a cáscaras de huevo en descomposición, producen crías más pequeñas y/o con peso inferior a los huevos control. Sin embargo, esto no influye negativamente en el éxito de eclosión. A team of scientists from Catalonia and the Balearic Islands has studied loggerhead turtles’ re-adaptation to the environment. The results show that after a lengthy recovery in rehabilitation centres these animals display changes in behaviour and may not adapt well to being free. Leer más.
