In this work, we present an updated reference list for the Spanish herpetofauna, which currently includes 132 native or historically introduced species, i.e. 37 amphibians and 95 reptiles, offering a standardized framework for amateurs, scientists, and environmental agencies. Leer más.
Nine cases of the introduction of wall lizards were confirmed. These ranged from single individuals of P. muralis or P. siculus introduced via freight transport and captured immediately after, to two introductions of P. muralis that resulted in the establishment of populations that persisted for at least several years. We detected 31 species of wildlife using culverts, which included small- to medium-sized mammals (56.4% of crossings), reptiles (21.0% of crossings), amphibians (19.0% of crossings), and invertebrates (3.6% of crossings), including some species of conservation concern, such as the Sonoran Desert tortoise (Gopherus morafkai) and Gila monster (Heloderma suspectum).
