Compared with the risks associated with climate warming and extremes, the risks of climate-induced drying to animal species remain understudied. This is particularly true for water-sensitive groups, such as anurans (frogs and toads), whose long-term survival must be considered in the context of both environmental changes and species sensitivity. Barbara Caspers, Tobias Krause, Sean Grond, Max Mühlenhaupt & Laura Schulte are organizing the 1st European Fire Salamander Meeting (EFSM2025) from September 4th to 6th , 2025 in Bielefeld, Germany. With this meeting they aim to bring together researchers, conservationists and anyone interested in the European Fire Salamander.
In preparation to the meeting they want to ask you to fill out the short survey, to help them with further planning. The survey is non-binding and it is not a registration yet.

While examining the specimens deposited in the herpetological collection of the Museu de Zoologia da Universidade de São Paulo, Brazil, we discovered a second specimen of P. fimbriata, an adult male collected in the “Serra do Araraquara,” state of Paraná, Brazil, previously identified as Phrynomedusa appendiculata.
