An integrative taxonomic analysis is used to identify and describe two new species of the agamid genus Bronchocela (Kuhl) from Peninsular Malaysia: an upland species Bronchocela shenlong sp. nov. from Bukit Larut, Perak in the Bintang Mountain Range and Parit Falls, Cameron Highlands, Pahang in the Titiwangsa Mountain Range and an insular species, Bronchocela rayaensis sp. nov., from Pulau Langkawi, Kedah off the northwest coast on the border with Thailand. Parahelicops boonsongi Taylor & Elbel, 1958 is known from only three specimens from Thailand. It has been placed either in the genus Parahelicops Bourret, 1934, along with Parahelicops annamensis Bourret, 1934, or in the genus Opisthotropis Günther, 1872. Leer más.

![]() | The Betic midwife toad is found in a number of isolated and fragmented populations around the mountains of southeastern Spain, occurring at altitudes of up to 2,140 metres above sea level. Females lay a string of eggs that the male wraps around his hind legs, carries until they are ready to hatch, and finally deposits in a pool of water where the tadpoles remain for up to a year. It is threatened by loss of suitable breeding habitat through excessive water withdrawal, droughts and the modernisation of agricultural practices leading to the abandonment of cattle troughs, which used to provide good breeding habitat.
