Con este color tan raro sorprenden e incluso pueden parecer otra cosa, pero son salamanquesas en la pared de una antigua finca, hoy abandonada y esperando la llegada de la maquinaria de construcción. En los días soleados esta pared se convierte en el lugar de reunión de estos simpáticos reptiles junto con otros animales como abejorros y a veces algunas serpientes que encuentran en este punto, protegido por una prominente chumbera, un buen  refugio. Leer más.

While analyzing some xrays of Anolis cybotes for my thesis work, I came across a few specimens that appear to have small dark masses in their guts. The numbers are pretty low – in over 200 xrays, I can only detect these masses in a handful of individuals. My curiosity was piqued. Leer más.

We report the rediscovery of Andinophryne olallai, an endangered species only known from a single specimen, collected in 1970. At the type locality, Tandayapa, Pichincha Province, numerous follow-up surveys after 1970 failed to record the species suggesting that the population is extinct. Leer más.

Here’s a regal ringnecked snake doing it’s thing, terrorizing the predator (me!) that insisted on picking it up. In 2013 I was lucky to see a good amount of these, sometimes multiples in a day, out on the crawl on cool evenings with just a little sprinkle of rain. Leer más.
