En La Rioja podemos encontrar dos especies de tritones, el tritón palmeado (Lissotriton helveticus) y el tritón jaspeado (Triturus marmoratus). Son anfibios del grupo de los urodelos -con cola- y tienen un aspecto remotamente similar al de una lagartija. Tienen una distribución bastante extendida que puede definirse negativamente de este modo; “Por doquier donde el hombre no destruye su hábitat, no utiliza pesticidas y no introduce especies invasoras”. A new study focusing on the Bornean gliding lizard (Draco cornutus) has discovered the lizards disguise themselves as falling leaves when they glide from tree to tree.
