Molts d’aquest exemplars han format part de projectes de reintroducció específics; com les accions de conservació de la tortuga mediterrània (Testudo hermanni), reintroduïda al Parc Natural de Garraf (Garraf / Barcelona) i Parc Natural del Montsant (Priorat / Tarragona) amb 5105 tortugues alliberades, o el projecte d’introducció de la tortuga d’estany (Emys orbicularis) a l’Estany d’Ivars i Vila Sana (Plà d’Urgell / Lleida) iniciat l’any 2010 amb l’alliberament inicial de 6 exemplars.
