El 6 de Agosto del 2015 se inició en la comarca de Sierra de Gata (Extremadura) un incendio forestal de enormes proporciones. En total 7.833 hectáreas de gran valor ecológico arrasadas que obligaron a desplazar de sus viviendas a unas 1500 personas en distintos pueblos de la zona. A pesar del desolador paisaje resultante a su alrededor, la mayoría de estas personas pudieron regresar a sus hogares. The taxonomical history of Triturus has been (and is) a turbulent one. However, genetic data has been very helpful in clearing it up.
