El 6 de Agosto del 2015 se inició en la comarca de Sierra de Gata (Extremadura) un incendio forestal de enormes proporciones. En total 7.833 hectáreas de gran valor ecológico arrasadas que obligaron a desplazar de sus viviendas a unas 1500 personas en distintos pueblos de la zona. A pesar del desolador paisaje resultante a su alrededor, la mayoría de estas personas pudieron regresar a sus hogares. Many phylogenetic studies have demonstrated the Indian subcontinent brought with it an array of endemic faunas that evolved in situ during its journey, suggesting this isolated subcontinent served as a source of biodiversity subsequent to its collision with Eurasia. The taxonomical history of Triturus has been (and is) a turbulent one. However, genetic data has been very helpful in clearing it up.
